The Beach
Caorle has a long, golden beach…
Caorle has a long beach that stretches out for more than 6 km. The crystal clear water in the warm, shallow sea laps against the fine, golden sand.
Caorle is an ideal destination for families and people who lovelong bike rides in unblemished natural environments. Its wetlands were described by Hemingway in his novel “Across the River and into the Trees”. In the famous Vallevecchia conservation area, you can see dunes and traditional straw constructions with reed roofs that are known as “casoni” and are still used by fishermen today.
The Harbour
Caorle is an old fishing village…
Caorle is an old fishing village where ancient traditions are kept alive. Fishing is still one of the main cornerstones of the local economy, along with tourism.
The fishing harbour is a popular tourist attraction, especially in late morning or the afternoon, when the fishermen come back, moor their boats, unload their precious catches of fresh fish, wash their decks and repair their nets.
The most distinctive vessels in the harbour are colourful fishing boats with traditional trapezium-shaped sails known as “bragozzi”, which swarm around the lively wharf.
